Inflammation and activation of neutrophils
Neutrophils play a major role in numerous pathologies including colic, respiratory diseases, acute arthritis and laminitis. They are also activated during intense physical effort. Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an oxidising agent specific to neutrophils and is released during their activation. It thus provides evidence of their activation. (References)
